Ichiran NY

To conclude our mini food adventure on the night of our spontaneous trip to New York, we headed to Ichiran in Brooklyn. It was a place that my mom read about online and really wanted to go to. It is famous in Taiwan, and people wait hours in line for it. In our whole trip, we rarely had to wait in line for food, making us extremely lucky. Anyway, Ichiran is a famous ramen chain that specializes in only Tonkotsu ramen. When you order, the base broth is all the same, but you can adjust flavor strength, richness, garlic, green onion, hot sauce, and noodle texture levels. You can also choose to customize with different toppings, such as a half cooked egg, different meats, and more. Also, you can choose to sit in a single private booth (pictured), but we decided not to as we wanted to share the noodles. Anyway, once we ordered and received our noodles, we had our first bite, and even though I was pretty full already, I enjoyed it. The noodles were thin and bouncy, the broth was really savory, and the toppings all paired nicely. It was a very satisfying bowl of ramen. Afterwards, we also got their matcha pudding, since we got a combo meal of ramen, toppings, and dessert. The pudding was actually very strong in matcha flavor, which was nice. It was rich, smooth and creamy. Now, onto some different aspects. The place where they actually make all the ramen is located right next to the restaurant, so it was cool to know that the noodles come fresh from next door. Also, their bathroom had a lot of toilet paper rolls, which was pretty funny at first sight. Overall, this is a unique and fun place to get quality ramen, so if you’re in town, I would definitely recommend it! Atmosphere: 4 (the booths are cool) Service: 3.5 (no tips allowed though) Taste: 4 Price: 3 Uniqueness: 4.5 Presentation: 4.5 (how do they get the noodles like that?) Overall, 23.5/30 or 78.33% @ichiranny #ichiranramen #ramen#tonkotsu #customized #matchapudding#brooklyn #newyork #ambersfoodreviews
