Jim's Steaks South Street

After a long winter day filled with traffic, snow, and universities, we headed to Jim’s Steaks South Street to add cheesesteaks to the list because when in Philly, one must have a cheesesteak! Thankfully, there was barely a line, which is quite unusual for this place. We ordered two cheesesteaks (one with cheese whiz and mushrooms, the other with provolone and just the onion mix) and a special Italian with prosciutto hoagie. The cheesesteaks were delicious. The one with the provolone had less of an obvious cheesy taste, but it allowed to meet and onions to really stand out. The one with cheese whiz was super cheesy and paired nicely with the mushrooms. Next, we all felt that we could have gone without the hoagie, but it was good to try it at least. The whole sandwich was super thick, and hard to bite through, but the flavors were pretty nice. Overall, this steak spot that has been around since ‘93 makes some pretty mouthwatering cheesesteaks.
