Dan Izakaya Restaurant

Today for lunch we went to Dan Izakaya. It is a place we have been wanting to go to for a long time. We always try to go at night, but there are always simply too many people, and reservations and necessary. Luckily, we got there a little before they were going to close for their own lunch break, so there were less people and the wait was much shorter. We ordered their clam ramen, tempura, and Buta Kakuni Rice in a stone pot with a side of mini udon. The clam ramen was delicious. The noodles were perfectly cooked and springy, the clams were fresh, but most importantly, the broth was amazing. I expected a fishy, seafood-y aroma from the broth considering it was a clam base, but instead, it was ever so savory and rich. The seafood taste was not overpowering at all and it was quite enjoyable. Next, the tempura was phenomenal. The batter was light and crunchy. The shrimp and vegetables were fresh and delightful. The Buta Kakuni rice was served in a hot stone pot. The meat was so tender and sweet, leaving you wanting more. The udon was your classic udon. All these dishes were too much for the three of us to finish. Two dishes would have been plenty, but we wanted to try all of them. We ended up bringing a lot of leftovers home. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place, but if you plan on going, I would say to definitely make a reservation. I will definitely come back, but next time, I want to try their sashimi and other combos because they also looked pretty good. Atmosphere: 4 (they have the traditional Japanese tables and mats in the restaurant too) Service: 3.5 Taste: 4.5 Price: 3.5 (lunch menu is cheaper) Uniqueness: 4 Presentation: 3.5 Overall, 23/30 or 76.67% #danizakaya #clamramen #butakakuni#tempura #udon #japanesefood#ambersfoodreviews
