Blackball Dessert House

Blackball brings the best of Taiwanese dessert dishes to the Bay Area! Although these dishes may be unorthodox in the eyes of people unfamiliar to Asian desserts, they are must tries! We tried two dishes. The first was a shaved ice topped with boba, sweet potato balls, and taro balls. It is a true classic that is perfect for hot summer days. The second was a grass jelly dish with brown sugar infused crushed ice with the same toppings. Each topping was both chewy and bouncy, and what made them so good was the fact that they were made with real taro and sweet potato! The texture was unbelievable! The grass jelly was quite soft as well. Also, they were not too sweet alone, so when paired with the sugary ice, it wasn't overwhelming. In addition, the black sugar infused ice had such a unique flavor, and when an additional creamer was added, the flavor was just enhanced and brought to another level! Although these flavors are not for everyone, it is definitely worth it to give these dishes a try. 8.5/10
